The @iamdevloper 2027 Calendar - Twelve Months of Things That Have Already Happened To You
Twelve months. Twelve posts from fifteen years of @iamdevloper. One for every month you will spend being told the estimate was fine.
January is the Vim one. June is the 1969 one, 2KB of RAM and sending people to the moon, which did 351,000 engagements and is still the most-quoted thing the account has ever posted.
Then there are the dates themselves. Six to eight days a month carry something small:
- 13 January. the annual refactor is quietly abandoned
- 1 April. April Fools. deploy nothing. obviously.
- 13 August. Friday the 13th. the deploy is scheduled.
- 31 October. the one day rm -rf is thematic
- 24 December. everyone is off. the pager is not.
Which means it gets read every week instead of flipped once a month. That is the entire difference between a gift and a poster.
Real bank holidays for the UK and the US, properly calculated, including the Christmas substitute days, which land on different dates either side of the Atlantic in 2027. A calendar that cannot tell you when the long weekends are is a picture with numbers on it.
The correct present for a software developer who already owns everything and complains about all of it. Fits a secret santa budget. Survives an office wall. Will outlast three of their side projects.
